I've loved chickens since my first job as an egg collector at a chicken farm when I was a teenager. Now finally, as a grandmother, I have my own small flock of hens. Two Wyandottes, two Barred Rock crosses, and two Silkies. I adore my girls, and thought it might be fun to hatch my own. A local chicken farmer had this little Frizzle rooster, and the hen was part of the package. Anyone know what breed(s) they may be? The rooster's comb is what's throwing me. I know not to breed frizzle to frizzle. I may try him with my Silkie hens after I clear up the scaly mite problem. Thanks everyone for your input!

I'm glad you joined our community.

It sounds like you have a lovely little flock! Your new birds look a bit like Sizzles (frizzled Silkies) to me. However, I don't know much about frizzled birds, so could be wrong.

I think he is a frazzle, you wouldn't want to take that any farther or you could end up with bald birds. Maybe using him with something completely different like small game breed hens, you could breed out the frazzle over time.

I wondered about that. It was kind of a rescue situation, and I was actually looking for a Silkie roo. I saw these two poor little things and felt sorry for them. I won't use him at all then. I not real keen on breeding bald birds ;)
