Hello and welcome to BYC!

I used a heat lamp for the first few weeks as I was keeping them inside my home office.

But, due to the high electrical usage and the lamp being overly hot indoors, I switched to using a heating plate.

That seemed to work much better as the chicks were able to go and cuddle up on the plate when they needed to get warm and not have the glaring heat of the overhead heat lamp. Much safer and Cost effectient in my opinion.

You can purchase them online, like Amazon as I did mine.

Or you can use a heating pad and make what is called a ‘Momma Hen’ heating plate set up.
For that you can search on here and find the details.

But for me, using the heating plate worked very well.
