OMG thanks so much for all the greetings how nice of you

so far my mind is reeling with all this amazing info here. I am so new at this and these are my first "legal" chickens ever! the last ones I had were given to me by someone who could not keep them and my landlord (this was 20 years ago mind you) thought having poultry was fine in our town so I took them.

well I knew nothing about chickens and just bought some feed and let them run in the yard ..chickens are very good acrobats that is for sure because they would flip themselves over our fence and lay beautiful blue eggs all over town!

I found my neighbors mom one time looking under the bushes for something and she told me she was really enjoying the fresh eggs I was leaving for her everywhere it was like an Easter egg hunt every day!

one day the cops came and told me they had to go

several years later we found a pile of blue eggs while helping our neighbor prune some bushes

I think they are still there

well back to work after blabbing

just wanting to say you are such a nice bunch and thanks already for all the info!

feeding is going to be an issue I guess I bought (on the advice of a friend who is sure the feed industry is out to kill us) just rabbit pellets, oyster shells, and mixed scratch ... the chickens run around a fenced in yard during the day and are eating grass bugs and worms like crazy along with handfuls of bird seed my husband has tossed. I guess I have to make my way back out to the feed store again after reading posts from the wise ones here and get some laying food as this will not be enough for them? I hope I am doing ok for the mean time as I can not get out there until this weekend

thanks again for the greetings

have a wonderful day you guys!
