Good morning, Everyone,
My name is Maile and I'm 18 years old. I'm graduating HS in may, and I love ALL animals. I have a red bearded dragon named "Ronshky" he is 3 years old. Two dogs, AJ my old mini Shnauzer 15, Kronk Bully pit, and Thing and Thang my new baby ducklings that I received as an early gift for my graduation.

My parents just gifted me these babies and I just love them so much already. I have been asking for a duck since I was 12. Sadly I one of them "Thang" started feeling sick. He began to walk like he was drunk :hmm. My mom thought maybe he was super tired because the day we got him he was very...VERY active and all over the place. Friday he seemed to get worse. he was not able to walk for longs periods of time and he would fall. On one of those falls he had a seizure. I broke down crying, I was so scared, I thought he was going to die. My mom grabbed him really quick and put her under her shirt and was gently blowing on his face. He came out of it and fell asleep. We found out that these are symptoms of low niacin, and turned out the food sold to us did not have any of it. Long story short, my mom got up early this morning and went to find him the right food. She's been hand feeding him smashed peas, little bit of tuna, and egg yolk this morning. She also added a little bit of high grade complex B in the water. He sadly had another seizure 😭 but thankfully came out of it.

He/she dont know yet, is resting now. I just want any of you that have plenty of experience to provide me with advice how to give my little guy a fighting chance.

thank you all so much!
Maile

Hello Maile! :frow Welcome to BYC we're happy to have you here in this poultry loving community!:welcome

I'm sorry to hear about Thang 😔 Hopefully someone with more knowledge about his/her condition can help you out! It sounds like you both are trying really hard to help Thang feel better. The correct feed, added niacin, and some vitamins and electrolytes added to the water would be a pretty good start at hopefully helping Thang and keeping Thing healthy!
Ducks are a lot of fun! I'm hoping Thang will make a full recovery for you:fl

Hello and welcome! Do you know what breeds your ducklings are? Are they crested?
How old are they now?
What is your brooder set up?
Can you share a few pictures?
Are you keeping them warm enough?
What kind of food were you feeding them?
Make sure you have a little dish of chick grit on the side since they are eating peas and or any other snacks besides their regular duck starter feed (when mom returns. Let me know what kind of feed she got them.)
Is there water deep enough for them to dip their whole face into?
They need it to be deep enough to clean their eyes and their nares.

Have you checked their bottoms for pasty butt?
What are you using for bedding?
I’m asking A lot of questions to help narrow down what else could be wrong.
Hopefully, it’s just the niacin deficiency. Here is the best kind of supplement niacin for Ducks.

It has the best amount of niacinamide per ml and you can squirt some over a dish of peas or other snack.
Check the B complex that you have make sure the niacin is from niacinamide and also that it is not time released or flush free
