Good Mythical Morning

:welcome:celebrate

Glad you're here ElfEars! My kiddo and I watch GMM all the time... love them!!!

If you haven't yet, please make your poultry a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

One last thing, please get your chickens some Vaseline or bag balm to stave off frostbite before they get it! Baby, it's cold outside! :D

-8????? With a high of 6??? That is my worst nightmare! I like it at least 80.

I'm originally from NJ, so 15 years ago these temperatures wouldn't have shocked me in the least. After being in GA, though, I get real whiny just like everybody else around here when the thermometer shows anything less than 40 degrees. I used to go out and run 10 miles in snowstorms back then. This morning I just stayed in. To be fair, though, the wind chills are horrible right now and the NWS says frostbite could occur in 30 minutes or less on exposed skin, so that's my excuse. And this won't change all week, in fact, it's going to get worse. I told my other half he will have to be on chicken duty at night now, since I don't get home from work until 8 usually. He'll have to get them tucked in and safe.

I just want to know what happened to the "warmer than average" winter NOAA forecast for my area.

Welcome to BYC!

Here is my best advice for navigating this forum:

Almost everyone here is an absolute expert on almost everything imaginable, take me for example I just left advice about freezing temps and I live in Southern California. So take the best and leave the rest.

Once you do get some good advice, and you will then follow said advice... Example being the guy who burned down his coop after being advised not to use a heat lamp in the coop and then talks about how to place the heat lamp going forward in the new coop....

Stay away from religion and politics, its just not worth it:oops:

Oh, and build BIG, chicken math is real:plbb

Welcome to the flock!
