hi everyone, so i'm getting new chickens and i wanted to know if you guys had any suggestions

I'm a great believer in complicated names for pets . .i have two buffs outside called Hubert Cumberdale and Marjory Stewart-Baxter. I had two chicks hatch the other day one Polish i called Horace Polinski and a campine i called Fanny M'crakin.

I've got some names in reserve for future chicken Timothy Southwater, Arthur Turnpipe, Loretta Longfellow and Duke Warensbury.
 
Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. I'm not real creative when it comes to naming chickens and my granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) names our hens after Disney princesses. We have Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Mulan, Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, Tiana, Meridah, Elsa, Anna, etc. in our flock. I have a hard time keeping up with who's who. :o) Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in naming your chickens.

We named most all of our chickens after our friends (most of them were pleased, some not so much, lol). We have Eric, Dianne, Zam, Tracy, Taylor, Zero (yes, we have a friend named Zero), Scotty, Freddy, Sue, Sandy, Dia, Robin (who goes by Peanut), Beau, Mei Li, and Ashley.

So glad you could join BYC! Like Michael O'Shay, I'm not very creative when I name my chickens (in fact, I'm probably even less creative). I tend to name mine after their traits. For example, a Silver Laced Wyandotte becomes "Silver". A bird that makes cheerful noises I name "Piper". I find that you can't really give a chicken a name; you have to let its personality determine a name for itself. Many times, I've tried to name a chicken something a little more creative or something that has nothing to do with its personality/appearance, but those attempts haven't worked.

Good luck in finding some nice names for your birds! What breeds are you planning on getting?
