Good News and Bad

GOOD NEWS!! I found my first egg today.

BAD NEWS!! The golf balls in the nest didn't work.

She layed it under the shed and I just happened to notice it when looking around the coop. I am not sure when it was actually laid as we were gone for the weekend with the holiday. I pulled it out and put it in the nesting box where I want her to be laying, maybe this will help. I am doubting that it is still good as I don't know how long it has been there. Hopefully with the days to come they others will start laying as well! It was a nice small lt brown egg that I am guessing came from one of the RIR hens.

CONGRATS!!!!! Be sure to mark the egg!!!!! Believe me, you do not want to get it mixed up with a fresh one!! I just used a permenant marker and put a big X on mine.

And as for the golf balls, worked for some of mine... others NOT... but I did the same with the eggs I found... and sometimes it works... sometimes it doesnt!
