GREAT news-my Jumbo Browns are 5 weeks 5 days old today and today we had 4 eggs! One perfect one & 3 soft shelled. I added dishes of oyster shell to their cages. I'm so excited by EGGS~LOL

Bad news, one of the little roos is being BAD! He near scalped a hen the other day. Since I didn't know who it was, I sprayed her head with Blu-Kote and put her back, but kept an eye on them. This morning one of his hens is missing an eye

I saw him jump on another, grabbing at her face trying to breed her.

I snatched him out and put in in a seperate pen alone. I figured Blu-Kote would work as well as anything for the hen's non-eye, so I sprayed it and put her back. We'll just watch her. I moved a less obnoxious roo in with them with his hens. We'll see how that works.

I guess we'll eat the nasty roo? Do they settle down eventually or is he better off stuffed & roasted, wrapped in bacon?

I'd eat that little sucker. Just like with chickens there is no sense keeping a nasty roo around when there are SO many to choose from!

Thanks

That's kind of what I figured on the roo. He *is* the most exposed to 24 hour light though, so I did wonder if less light might calm down his agression. They are in elevated cages in my barn brooder area, thus the extra light.
