Good pet ducks?

Of my mallards, buff, Indian runner, and Welsh Harlequins, the Welshie girls are by far the calmest and friendliest. They will almost always walk right up to you for lettuce, or even just duck crumbles. If I sit still long enough I've even had them just walk up and nibble around me, lol. PhotoGrid_1439773503564.jpg IMG_20181114_182636.jpg They are very easy to get a hold of and will usually let me snuggle them for quite a while (and they are so fluffy and snuggly!)
Roxy, my runner, is probably the second best pet duck. She is a little skittish sometimes, but tolerated wearing a diaper for two hours and letting probably a couple dozen people pet her at a pet pageant (which we won! most unique, lol). IMG_20140912_185136.jpg
I thought I read somewhere once as a general rule of the thumb that the bigger ducks are more chill, but Tony, my buff, definitely doesn't fit that rule. He will run as fast as he can away from me and will only come to me for food if he's basically starving. One time I grabbed him to get him back in the pen and he flapped his wings free and knocked my glasses off and I looked like Velma from the Scooby Doo cartoons down on my knees feeling around in the grass for them carefully (I'm practically blind without corrective lenses) :lau
The mallards won't usually take food out of my hand, but they'll often eat out of the container I'm holding, and they're not too hard to catch, and once you get them there's not too much struggle. When I've had to take the girls inside for a bath and for respite from the boys, they'll often just stand on my feet or legs for a long time. IMG_20181126_202850.jpg

Khaki Campbells are loud but my friend’s are little fighters! Not to humans of course but they have chased down dogs, coons, and her cat is their fav chase lol
Pekins are super nice ducks. They are so gentle and sweet. I have about 28 pekins right now and they all love to Be pet and picked up. I will sometimes sit down inside their barn and several will come over and sit on my lap and take a nap

Love our Jumbo Pekin clowns. Whenever we are cranky and grumpy, we just sit and watch them and their antics and can't help but laugh and smile.

And I mean, what is cuter than a little duck lovin snuggles?
They are so adorable and tame. Mine not so much. Only one likes to be held, carried around and pet. Sadly that sweet drake has recently decided to fight with the lead Pekin drake and the flock is in chaos.
Need more females❣️

My indian runner mix is the sweetes duck you'll ever meet. She lives inside with me and craves my attention. She'll shower with me, fly next to me while i run short distances and cuddle with me any and all the time. She would never think twice about eating food out of my hand because that means it must be a treat. I can use a hair dryer to dry her quickly if I want to or I can leave her in a large pen in my room (that she recently learned how to fly out of) and she'll stay put until I come to let her out. She's very special but anyone can raise a special duck if they treat them special and get them accustomed to whatever you'd like them to while they're very young. Golden 300.
They are calm, don't make a lot of noise. They lay close to 290 eggs a year. Males get 4.5-5# nice eating size if you're into that sort of thing, I'm not. 2nd generation are a beautiful variety of colors that continue to lay well.
Pictures are of 2 ducklings from my last hatch.

Probably my calls. Actually bought them to be "pets" the rest of the ducks here had purpose, eggs... bug clean up and so forth. I hand raised my first calls, bought a few and bred over the years. They are awfully loud but very personable and extremely hardy.

It's not to say some of the other breeds(have had buffs, Pekin, Muscovy) here can't or aren't potential "pets" just that isn't how i have chosen to use them.
