That sounds like a good, albeit slightly sad, idea. I"ll look for those. Thanks for the help!We've culled one ourselves but now my preferred option is "dinner donation" to a local farm that will take birds that are old enough to be eaten.
I will be doing MPC. I'll pay for the silkie, because I know that it's an added expense that my parents don't need to pay for. I'm mostly worried because I know that there is only a 90% sexing guarantee on all chicks, and I couldn't bring myself to cull one of my birds.On another thread you mention getting silkies? Unless you are getting sexed ones from MPC at a cost of $25-30 per chick you will end up with cockerels.
There is a local SPCA here that may take some in, if they have room, but for a donation of $150. I just take mine up to a poultry processor in NH.
