You all PLEASE be carefull. Chickens held close to the face can suddenly peck the eyes. They aren't being mean, but they are attracted to the glint in your eye. Don't let this happen to you........Pop
I kiss and hug my rooster so close to my face and he won't peck at me even if i get after him! I don't believe ALL chickens do this!
Even though I do like to hug certain roosters, I do admit you have a point, Pop. My chickens do like to peck things that shine and aggression has nothing to do with it. One time I was checking inside the coop, one of my hens came up to me and I smiled in response and she pecked my teeth. I didn't hurt, but if it had been my eye, it would have been a different story. I tend to hold my chickens in the crook of my arm more than face to face. You all PLEASE be carefull. Chickens held close to the face can suddenly peck the eyes.
