So my dad and I started building a seperate coop for the ducks. We got a big doghouse and we're going to put it in the run type thing we're building so they can lay eggs/sleep in there. The run around it is 16x8 ft. The only thing left to do is put chicken wire around it and over the top. We currently have 4 ducks but plan on getting 1-2 more. Is this a good size coop? It is all we could do for now since the only thing we had to buy is the doghouse we found on craigslist.

What kind of ducks do you have? How big is the large doghouse? Is it well ventilated and can it be secured at night?

Ducks need from 2 to 6 square feet of space in their house depending on their size and temperaments... the height doesn't need to be more than 3 ft high since they don't roost like chickens, but they need plenty of space to be comfortable in and the more the better since a smaller house will get mucky quicker... chicken wire will keep them in, but it won't keep predators out... duck is a fave of predators so if you use chicken wire on the run, you really should be locking them up inside a secure duck house at night...
