I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good source for Dark cornish? I am wanting to experiment with them for a nice meat bird.... should I just get some from a hatchery and if so which one? I have done all my hatchery ordering from McMurray previously ... would that work?

We got ours from Welp hatchery about 2 years ago. Nice birds and all got to us in great shape and have done really well for us. All they say about the DC's in the write ups are true, great foragers, good layers. The only thing with the eggs is they are medium sized if you plan on selling eggs. They are solid and great table birds. When you pick one up it's like picking up a brick they are that solid.

I have some DC hens, I love them, they're great moms, but I don't have a roo, yet. The hens grew very slowly, and I'm told the roos grow slow as well. They are very solid birds, a good weight, but the grow slow. They won't be fryers by the time they reach butcher weight.

I eat plenty of older birds, I crock pot or pressure can them. Very tasty!
