Google Chrome...having a problem

I keep getting a warning saying high memory usage by Google Chrome....I just recently switched to this from Fire Fox.

I have a limit on my internet service and it says I am about maxed out so I am wondering if anyone knows what is constantly running that maybe I can stop if not necessary?

Do you have ad blocker? That should knock out the ads, if that is the problem.

I don't really know, just guessing.

I don't think I have an ad blocker and no not just on BYC. Whenever I am using the computer it pops up periodically. I had to pay an extra $10 this month cause we went over two 5MG so 10MG over usage. I am gonna call them today maybe they know why.

It is something new we did causing it because we have had service with them for quite a while now and never went over.

I assume you mean 5 GB, not 5 MG.
To go over 5GB usually requires watching a lot of video (perhaps pages running in the background with video feeds, like news pages). However, it could also be a trojan using your computer to send spam or something like that.

If you're on a PC (I don't know anything about macs), press ctrl+shift+esc to bring up the task manager.
Select the "processes" tab.
click twice on either "memory usage", "peak memory usage", or "vm size". That will sort the list of processes running in your computer with the most memory intensive at the top of the list, and you'll see who is using all the memory.

Thank you, yeah lol that is what I mean (GB). We used 10 GB extra this last month. We are not doing anything different then we normally do though. Just me and my husband here.

I am blaming it on Google Chrome cause that is the only thing I have done different lately....last week or two and it pops up warnings for high memory usage from Google Chrome.

I just talked to my internet provider and they said that we have been going up steadly since Dec 29th 2011....some days she said use a lot of usage and other not so much.

When I do the task manager on my computer it comes up but no tabs are on the top of it. I thought was weird.

My husbands computer says memory is 727MB right now.....CPU says 27%

We both have Dell desktops.

I think we do have a virus on mine that spread to his.....I will be having it looked at real soon.

I am gonna call our computer tech now.

Something is definitely not right if your usage has jumped that much. Something is connecting into the internet without your knowledge and pumping data in and out.
