what are these and where do they come from? i never was bothered with this until today.

is it something i can turn off?

Where are you seeing this and how is it causing you problems. We use Google's Doublclick service to help manage our ads on the site.

Golden Feather Members can turn of ads, and I believe anything related to google's doubleclick should also be off.

with every page load at byc, at least ten of these show up in my recent pages list. i typically read a posting, then hit "back" to get back to the list of threads. starting yesterday, it takes 10 "backs" to get to the last real page i was at.

i follow several other forums, and it doesn't seem to be my machine, i only see it here. i've been lurking here a little over a year, and it only started yesterday.

thanks for any help.

Have you tried logging out, emptying your cache, maybe rebooting? Are you using IE? Have you tried another browser?

I've heard of this problem before, although I don't know what the solution is. All I can say is that I think it is your computer, or possibly just your web browser. It shows up when you visit this site because backyardchickens uses doubleclick's services, but it isn't supposed to be in your history list a million times like that. You might try restarting your computer, reinstalling your browser (firefox, internet exporer, chrome, or whatever you use), or running a spyware removal program like spybot or malwarebytes. I was having some weird internet issues the other day where some pages would not load correctly- everything was showing up in code and photos were all scrambled. The way I fixed it was actually unplugging my cable modem and then plugging it back in. You might even give that a try.

We've seen cases of the back button issue before. It was usually related to a specific browser version and a bug in Google's new ad code.

I believe it was resolved, so I'd follow the suggestions above regarding logging out, emptying your cache, and maybe testing with another browser.
