Well I caught goonie, My scovie drake today mounting a hen. Only problems were :

1. It wasnt a scovie hen
2. It was my little buff mutt hen so his belly basically covered her entire body.

Since he is so big he is going to have trouble doing the deed with my smaller hens - Thank god! But im going to have problems with him mounting them anyway. Im worried since he is so HUGE!

Ugh... this meaning i'll have to start seperating my scovies and non scovies

When I had Mr. Muscovie around here I went through the same thing with him mounting my runners. He didn't do it in the water either. His claws tore one of them up before I chased him off. Just another reason I had to let him go.

Well, at least he has figured out "He's a boy!"

He'll be ready for his ladies now.

I had the opposite problem with my Blue Ameraucana roo. When he hung out with the Scovies he started mounting the Scovy girls.

IN FRONT of the young Scovy drakes mind you. Like "I'm bigger and badder than you sooo I get the girl!" Once a few of the chook girls began jumping the fence and hanging out with him...... he got himself straightened out & keeps to his own chooks.

He is only four months old! The big brat. He has three girls of hid own! I really dont want to have to seperate them from the flock yet because poor Goon will go crazy! I just have to watch from now on. He mounted her in the water though, and thankfully its pretty shallow.
