Goose and duck lovers.

I have a goose that thinks hes the dad to my ducks ducklings. Is that normal?

That's totally normal and something you want to encourage. I use my geese as flock protectors and I read the Holderread usually put's their babies out in the pasture with mature geese to keep them safe.

We call our geese the barnyard police. They do a pretty good job of taking care of the flock.

Sometimes they get mean to ducklings, especially Canada ganders. We had one that attacked duck families quite a bit at first, but calmed down as he got used to them. But, I do know one Canada goose that attacked a heron who ate a duckling and that heron never bothered the rest of the family again (unfortunately, they had something else wrong with them and only lived 3 weeks).
