How long are geese eggs fertile after mating? We lost our gander roughly a week ago and my goose just laid her first egg. I was wondering if it would be fertile so I can incubate it.

It's very likely that she will be laying fertile eggs for the next couple of weeks. I'd incubate them - there's nothing to lose. Good luck. Did you lose him to an accident or predation? If it was due to illness, the eggs may not be fertile.

I’ve read that article, and I don’t think it addresses whether chicken and goose eggs can be incubated together. (Unless that was answered in the 100 pages of comments, which I did not sift through, looking for answers.)

He talks about spritzing the goose eggs and cooling them down daily, but doesn’t give specific instructions for doing that. Those are not things I do with chicken eggs, so it leads me to believe they should be in separate incubators.

I do have experience incubating duck eggs with chicken eggs, but my duck hatch rate was not very good, so I’m looking into better methods of waterfowl incubation. I’m leaning towards separate incubators, and moister conditions for the waterfowl.
