Goose egg incubation question...

Just remember goose eggs need a MUCH higher humidity than other types of eggs (65% through incubation and 85% at hatch) and some special handling. I think there's a sticky on here either in the hatching area or under the goose forum... I know I could never have gotten my LG up anywhere near that humidity because of the holes being in the bottom of the bator instead of the sides. There was hardly anywhere for the water to sit, and even with extra little pans in there I still struggle (in my admittedly low-humidity area) just to keep it at 30% for chickens! My HB is much easier to regulate humidity in

I posted an ad on CL for a Hovabator yesterday..but if I don't find one before Sunday..I have to buy a LG.

Like I said, I woud prefer a Hovabator..but im tight on time so..ill take what I can get

With waterfowl eggs you can put a piece of paper towel on the wire, and lay the eggs directly on that. Because the surface area is so much larger with paper towel, it brings the humidity up much better. Just wet the towel. I keep a sponge on top of part of the towel so it doesn't dry out too quickly.
