Goose egg-laying processes.

Hello all,

I have a female domestic goose with no partner. She laid her first seasonal clutch of even eggs and was quite hormonal just over a month ago. After a day or two of her last egg, she started behaving more like her usual self. In the early hours of this morning, she started the nesting type behaviour again i.e pulling her blankets toward her, hissing at anything like leaves in the wind, etc...

I would just like to know if this is normal behaviour or if I should be concerned. From the research I've done online, all the articles say that geese only lay seasonally (one clutch per year type of idea).
Update: She has just laid another egg. She and the (unfertilized) egg both seem fine. I'd still just like to know if this is normal.

Best regards,
Crazy Goose Lady. :D

She might be feeling broody, she might lay again. Usually geese only lay one clutch per year but this last year one of my girls layed a bunch of eggs, went broody for a few weeks, gave up on the nest for a few weeks then started laying again and went through the whole process over. 🤷‍♀️

Sometimes geese have random broodyness that comes over them through the year, anything can trigger momentary parental feelings, round objects, white objects, nice nesting material, a cozy looking spot, even ganders can get in on this.

Awesome! Thank you so much @Goosebaby! She has just laid another egg and is looking much happier.
Thank you for putting my heart and mind at ease. Much appreciated!
