when I found it it was just laying in the middle of the pen. So i moved it to their shelter area. Should I have left it there?

Are geese like some ducks do they only lay eggs when they are breeding ? Congrat's on the egg I hope she accepts it !

I would of done the same thing you can't just leave it for them to walk on .

Geese are seasonal layers, but just like any other bird, they don't have to be breeding to lay eggs. I think what you have in mind is that most people (that have both males and females) don't get eggs until after their birds have been breeding for a while, but it's not a requirement.

I'm pretty sure that first one of mine is a double yolker.... Got a second one today, it's quite a bit smaller than that one, and from trying to candle it, it seems like it looks like it's a double yolk.

It's cool to look at, but kinda wish it wasn't so it'd be incubatable. lol
