Goose limping

This morning one of my English geese (Lady Goose) was limping and seemed in a bit of pain, not interested in doing anything but sitting.
I keep an eye on their feet as the driveway is crushed stone and they do wander around in that area, but what I found when I checked her feet was a small cut on her middle toe, scabbed over. A closer inspection revealed what looked like an ingrown hair.
I’ve picked it out and applied iodine, she seems much happier already and is back to teasing the young gander over the fence with her plump behind.
Not sure what is going on here, geese don’t have hair or feathers on their toes?

Who knows, get a photo next time. That's how bumblefoot starts so glad you got on top of it quick! Unless you have sharp rocks I don't think crushed stone is much to be concerned with. Do you have picture of the crushed stone?

She is still limping today and less mobile than usual but yummy weeds were well received so she is eating well.
The driveway stone is

sharp to the point where I can’t walk on it barefoot, but they don’t seem concerned by it, I take care not to hurry them when they are in the area.

I'd keep an eye on that foot might still be something there and if it sealed over an infection that could be a home-surgery down the road.

That’s my concern so I’m keeping up the iodine ointment twice a day and have ordered some epsom salts to soak her feet in. She is quite a bit more active this evening and there is no swelling or heat, so fingers crossed she is on the mend.
It’s interesting that she responds well to a foot massage and seems much more comfortable afterwards, maybe I can open a day spa for lady geese…
