My embden geese (2 girls and one boy) started laying eggs, but when their first nest got destroyed by a mean swan, I started collecting the eggs i found and bringing them in for incubation or for food. Randomly, a little over a week ago, I couldn't find any more eggs and I just assumed they were laying in the water or something. Then about four days ago I spotted my geese under my deck sitting down, when i went to investigate i saw ten eggs! Today i counted 14. Now every night into about noon, there is always at least one goose on the nest.

During the day though they cover them up and leave to go play in the lake. Is laying on them all night enough or is it likely they won't be successful in hatching goslings? And if its not enough how can i encourage them to be broody?

I should mention, we don't put them up at night anymore because their nest is not in their pen. It is instead under the deck and highly guarded by my dogs so I am not too worried about anything getting to them. When i tried putting them up they screamed and screamed all night so i didn't the next and they went straight up to their nest

Sounds like someone is going to be going broody soon.

i hope!! she is starting to sit on them more frequently but not non-stop! is this normal?

My goose sat sporadically until she had built her clutch up to the way she wanted. As soon as she was at a nice number she went full on broody! Have they started to sit yet?

They still aren't sitting full time so I don't think I'll end up with any babies /: they aren't even one year old yet so I bet that has some to do with it
