These are my Toulouse geese Cheddar and One-Eye Jack. Jack has one eye, and a bit more white and more feathered on one of the wings. Cheddar has a whiter butt, and is definitely the alpha of the entire yard. Everyone follows Cheddar (ducks too) and Cheddar eats/drinks first. Cheddar even keeps the chickens in check and has since he was moved outside almost a month ago. (the chickens are a good 6 weeks older).
I’m thinking Cheddar is a gander and Jack is either a much smaller gander or a goose. I think our African Lucy is a goose too. Lucy is smaller and has been loudest/smallest of the three since we got them.
They all came to us mid-April. I know it’s early yet, but I’m wondering how many ganders versus geese I have. I want to avoid having too few goose for my ganders in future. I know my Buff is a gander, and my White Chinese and other Toulouse are goose.
