I was wondering how bad goose poop really is. Do they all poop like the Canada geese do?

Have alpacas and don't want to have messy poop getting in their fleeces when they roll.

They poop lots. lol

I don't know if it's a common colloquialism anywhere else, but around here the saying "Pooped like a goose" really does have a solid background meaning.

whole lotta poopin'... drives my husband nuts. its bigger and wetter than chicken poop..and they tend to stand on the front porch and poop up a storm. so if you have to...say... go running outside in your bare feet for something... ick ick ick

i dont mind i just hose everything (including feet) off but when they get in the garage you can hear my hubby hollerin' a country mile away

but should not be a deterrent to gettin' your goose! geese for all i say!

I don't notice it in the donkey fur. Course all of mine are dark coated.

There is a lot of poop. A. Lot. Of. Poop. But mine free range and I hardly notice it, only in the place they like to congregate and relax in the afternoon shade. I usually hose the spot down in the evening.

Geese are lots of fun. I love the little boogers, even when they drive me crazy.

So alpacas and donkeys don't poop? Any grazing animal is going to have a large intake and outgo. The goose digestive system is very simple when compared to the 4 legged grazers. If you let your 4 legged animals have the run of the place you would have a poop problem that a hose wouldn't help! Just don't let your alpacas share the same range on the same day as your geese and avoid the problem.

Well, the alpacas use common poop piles, so they all go in the same place. The girls are much better at this than the boys are, though. And if donkey fur is anything like horse hair, then the alpacas are much, much finer.

My original plan had been to get 2 female geese to use as alert animals. We have 7 different pasture areas, with 3 in use by the alpacas every day, so I could have the geese & ducks in one while the alpacas use the others. And then rotate the birds onto the pasture the alpacas were just on.

oh golly then if you have pasture get a whole passel of them! no really - they are great for weeding and grass eating - and unlike some herd animals they just poop where ever so its all spread around.

just throw a kiddie pool out there (or do you have a pond) and them 'em at it. really - you will love them. tons of personality and a lovely to watch.
