goose poop

If you have a multiple pasture rotation, you won't have any issues. The poo breaks down very quickly and is great fertilizer and since waterfowl and equines have different parasite issues, there is no worm contamination from one to the other. (My vet told me that.)

Some donkeys have very fine fur and some have coarse. Actually, the coarse is a bigger pain to keep clean because dirt easily rinses from the fine haired donkeys, but the coarse tends to hang onto the grunge.

I've never had alpacas. I bet they are beautiful in the pasture. You'll love your geese and ducks too. They are so much fun to watch.

Goose poop is HARDLY real feces

It's chewed up grass, like you find under the lawn mower. It doesn't even smell . . . well, except for what my daughter and I affectionately call "seven poops". That dark liquid splatty poop that comes out about every seven or so times from some fermentation pouch in their intestine. Peeeyewwww.

If you hose down the poo once in the evening, before it dries, it will dissolve right into the grass, and fertilize it too.

They poop constantly when they are doing the most growing (and eating), and slow down at about two months of age. That is comparatively speaking.

I just love my geese, any geese, and they can do no wrong, pretty much lol . They far exceed, in pleasure and entertainment and love they give back to you, the splats and loafs of digested grass they leave in abundance

We hatched out a couple of geese that we loved to bits but the mail man could not get to our front door because of 1. the poop, and 2. they didn't like him. Sadly we had to find them a new home.

Your mail man delivers to your door? You must be in town. I wonder why us rural folks have to put our mailboxes by the road, to prevent goose attacks and poop problems? When I finally confined my geese to a large fenced run away from the house I heard from my electric meter reader (geese had been attacking him every visit but he was afraid to complain, people might think he was a wimp) and my propane delivery guy who missed the company of my "very friendly geese"! Same flock but the meter reader was a wimp and the geese knew it, the propane guy came from a farm and and wasn't afraid of a few geese and the geese could sense that too. How you approach an animal usually makes a difference.

hee hee hee i had to protect the cable guy from my gander... hee hee hee

but that old rascal comes in handy - my tales of his "bravery" have scared my mean MIL to the point where she runs from him... hee hee hee not that i exaggerated or anything. i have the scars to prove it!!

;-)

oops! we are supposed to be talking sayyadina INTO geese.. no really... i just love that ol' gander, really. hee hee hee

I think I can handle the geese. We have one female alpaca who had her 6th baby a month ago who was psychotically overprotective of him. Like give me the Death Stare, make strange sounds, and try to take me out. And did I mention she's 195lbs?

Now that he's older, she's much better, but those first few days were very interesting.

They would be able to go into the pastures the alpacas aren't on. But it will be in their best interest to stay OUT of the pony pasture as one of my girls likes to stomp small animals (racoons, turkeys, small dogs).

And considering the amount of rain we've had this year, I may not even need to hose down the pastures.

Can bald eagles take an adult goose?

Can bald eagles take an adult goose?

not if he wants to live to tell about it!! hee hee hee seriously i dont think so, my gander has a wingspan of about 6 feet and easily weighs 15 lbs...probably more. but the little ones might be a target. i think they hulubaloo would scare an eagle off - they are great at sighting predators

get geese! yay!!
