goose questions UPDATED w/ PHOTOS!

Okay, I sat out there and paid attention to how they sound. They sound the same as each other, so I guess that means they're both the same sex? They don't ever make any noise that I would consider high-pitched, but maybe since I don't have another goose to compare it to... Even when I was right there, they just kept making the same noises as when they see me from far away. They don't seem to have indoor voices.

If the deciding factor is egg or no egg, when would they lay an egg if they were going to???? Like I said, we got them in early April. They were already at least a few weeks old.

You're kidding! A YEAR???? Well, I have to agree. They do seem rather immature. But a YEAR??? Man. That's a lot of food.

If you'd be interested to know, some geese like snow geese (wild breed) do not breed, sometimes for 3 years. Interesting isn't it? They stay with their parents for 2 or 3 years.

Definitely by the vocals and behavior. Oh, and size. If you can weigh the birds or just notice a difference in weight by holding them, that might give you a clue. Does one goose always walk in front of the other, or guard the other? Is one goose more submissive? Does one have a longer and thicker neck, while the other's is thinner? Watch body language. If one is constantly on alert, neck stretched upwards and the other holds it down to their chest, the male will be the alert one. Females are always more submissive, quiet and males always protect their female.

Wow, they act completely the same. I took some photos of them today. I'll get busy posting those right now. Maybe that would help, maybe not! They both say the same thing over and over and over. A three-syllable noise. Like "wah-weh-weh". That's the noise they commonly make, especially to me.

Okay, here are the photos.

Does this help at all?

And can you tell what breed they are?
