Goose showing?

I am ordering an assortment of goslings soon, and was thinking of possibly showing the amazing quality goslings... but should I show them? If I do show them, what am I looking for in a show quality goose or gander? Any suggestions on how and where to do this?

Well, what you're looking for will depend on the breed you choose. You won't want to get them from a hatchery, as hatcheries do not breed to the standard and you'll get geese that are not good for showing. Try to find a local breeder, or perhaps you can order from Holderread farm next spring if you have no luck - they have excellent stock.

Thanks for the info- there was another hatchery, I think it was cackle hatchery or Stombergs I can't remember but it said that they sold show quality goslings...

Stromberg's does I think, but I'm not sure if they breed them themselves or dropship them from elsewhere, and I can't tell you how the quality will be since I've never ordered from them.

... true, I'll just take these goslings, hopefully breed them for show quality. But I dont know what I'm getting its an assortment... I might just find a local breeder. I'm thinking of possibly showing Africans or Chinese but I am unsure yet.
