Hi my goose Dandelion lives on her own her sister Clover sadly passed away last year, she has been lonely and she sits beside my roosters pen all day. Recently when I go to pat her she would squat down, would she do that for a gander? Why does she do it for me? Everyday I check her coop for eggs and there is none I would like her to hatch goslings

We are getting close to the start of the goose breeding season. It starts down south sooner. Here in Wisconsin I generally won't see eggs until March or later.

She may be submissively squatting or soliciting mating from you. In lieu of a gander some geese will look for another partner. Do you plan on getting a gander? Or are you purchasing eggs to hatch?

I plan on getting her some eggs as if I got a gander he could be aggressive to me.
Not all gander are aggressive. Mine leave me be, but I don't handle mine. If you hatch you may just get all males, so keep that in mind.

Is there better hatch rates in an incubator or a goose? I'll probably sell all but 1 males if it turns out that way.

She is acting like you are her mate
Mine started this so I got her a gander
She stopped laying down for me !
Not all ganders are mean
The one I got is 1.5 years old
He is amazing with us
Not aggressive at all
He will get vocal and does keep the ducks away if Stella is eating or covering up eggs ( that aren’t even hers )
But he lets me cuddle her
She climbs on my lap and snuggles in
He stands close and soft talks when I call his name
My grandkids run through the yard with no issues from him
They are fully in mate and she laid eggs for 6 weeks
I got very lucky with this boy
