Goose with half a wing

We rescued a neighbor's goose yesterday. (My neighbor is elderly and didn't know his geese were even missing) We aren't sure how it happened, but the goose is missing half of his wing. It was a clean break right at the elbow. There is an open wound, but no blood. We put some meds on it and isolated him. Anything else we should do? Will he be ok with only half a wing?

An injury such as you describe should heal quite readily and cause the goose no further complications.

Thanks. He seems to be doing great. I am glad that he will not suffer because of the injury.

They are really quite resilient. One thing you might want to do is to keep an eye on the wing to make sure that it does not become maggot infested.
