Indeed they are. These mutt geese where sold to me as pure embden eggs. I knew the minute i saw the beaks pip they were not embdens. So it has been a mystery until they feathered out. Aren't they the loviest embdens you ever did see?
And since there isn't any knob, couldn't they be American Buff? I have 4 Am Buff goslings (proud as their "parents" who hiss at me now! LOL)
my grey girl is a Pilgrim and Snowflake must be a girl goose Embden as their eggs are infertile 3 yrs in a row. The American Buff's will look like Grayzie but a bit lighter according to pics I have seen...
Edited to include: Does it really matter what they are, as beautiful as they are, I'd be pleased as punch if mine as as beautiful this fall.
Miss Prissy, your babies are so pretty. They're huge! Mine are just over a week, now. They're also getting big, smart and ever so sassy. I can't believe they have the potential to be in our lives from 20 to 40 years. Today, the temperature here is suppose to reach over 90 degrees. So, we're buying them a kiddy pool. I'll post pictures, later.
The black bill is the problem with being an American. There are very few goose breeds with the black bill... the african and chinese are the common ones.
