I would not compare with Sandhill Preservation birds.....some of them dont have good example of the breed themselves. I would go to a private breeder who does show thier birds and have them send you pics of their best birds. Not all offsprings will look like their parents but majority of them does.

Most hatcheries dont own birds themselves but go over to the breeders and take pic of their birds and post them on their websites. They are middlemens and their job is to sell hatching eggs and chicks.

Feathersite is a good source but going to a bird show is the greatest thing you can see in different breeds of birds and you will get different responses and opinion on different breeders about their birds.

Yes I do agree that the pic of the Sussex is not the greatest pic but dont be afraid to ask him how you would like your birds to pose for you and I am certain he can do it. I have asked Gordie to post more pic of the rooster for me and he went out of his way to do that just for me.

I hope you dont think I am being too critical, I was just stating what I thought about the pic. I think he is a nice man and I believe he is upfront and honest with what he represents selling and sells. I remember him from last year and he does have a whole album of nice pictures of his parent stock so people can see what they are getting. And like you said he is very busy. I can hardly wait for Saturday, its the first big swap of the season and last year had a lot of really nice choices.

I was looking at two buff brahma pullets for $5 each and they were NICE and I put one in the cage and went to get the other one out to look at her and somebody shoved $10 bucks in the guys face and said "Ill take them" Wow that was fast!!! Gotta be on your toes
