16 Embden goslings from Metzers due to arrive early next week and being a worrywart, I am concerned about the many details of starting them off right. Looking at Purina "Start and Grow" & "Flock Raiser" locally available. Which do I go with? Gonna add 7% brewers yeast by weight per Dave Holderreaders' book. And a heat lamp at 20" above the floor's dried grass level. He says in the book the best thing for newly arrived goslings is grass clipped to 1/4" to 1/2" lengths. Have to do it with scissors, assume he means NOT dried but still limp? The goose house is a 10' x 12' structure with the wide doors locked continuously open. Gonna nail a 12" wide board across 1/3 of it internally to section it off for the 16 babies. Should I worry about drafts and increase the height to 2 feet? Gonna leave some sand for them in a bowl for their gizzards. Will be in the low 40s next week. Will the 240w heat lamp suffice? Problem with my setup? Anything else I need to worry about? Many thanks for the great advice from this place...
