Gosling bought today

Yeah I wish I could have taken more home but I could not afford to buy all of them but I wish I could have. They looked terrible.

I did have a word with my husband before I went....it went along the lines of...."If I see some goslings what do YOU want me to do? Shall I buy some?....." Lol. Put him on the spot and he said something along the lines of "Use your nogging (my head)". So I used that nogging to raise my hand with my bidding number! Lol. I dont think that is what he quite meant though.

Yes good idea. Just checked them a minute ago and all well. All four snuggled up together. Is it likely that the older goslings will
pick on the smaller ones? They appear not to have done so far.

Do you worm your goslings and when?

I have some wormer I got given by the Vet for my chickens. I think it is panicure.

They will go out with the adults in a minute.
My only concern is I know for sure when they adopt them we are not getting anywhere near those little fluff balls!

Sorry lots of questions!
I wouldn't worm them yet, way to young, hopefully Pete or someone else can give you better info. on worming. And as long as the gosling get a lot of stimulation, time outside to run around and wear themselves out and have a big enough brooder they probably won't pick on each other. Toys too, stuffed animals minus the tags, parrot type toys hung up around and a non breakable mirror, they love to look at themselves. lol
As far as when they will adopt them, I guess it's watch and wait. and hopefully you'll see the sign. I know Iain Utah gave her African gander some gosling to raise last year, but I'm thinking they were next to each other with fencing for a while before they got them for good. Hopefully you'll hear from her today.

Hi there and kudos to you for rescuing the goslings at auction! I am a big fan of using towels for brooding babies. They provide great traction and are easy to clean. I've never had a problem with them eating it. As for worming them, I'd get a fecal test done first. That way you know If they even have worms, and if so, what kind of wormer to use depending on type of worm. Finally, as for introducing goslings to new foster parents, I had great luck last year giving babies to my pair of adult ganders. Initially, I set up a pen outside during the day and brought them inside at night. It only took a few days for my ganders to adopt the babies and try to protect them (which will be obvious when it happens). My ganders were upset when we took them away at the end of the day, but figured out really quick that we'd bring them back out the next morning. Once they were a few weeks old, we then put a pen in the garage with heat lamp at night. The ganders would stay in garage guarding perimeter of fence. Finally, when they were about 6 weeks old, we gave the babies to the ganders who quickly took over parenting them. My ganders raised them up beautifully.

Im pretty sure that the adults have taken to them. I got a nip earlier when the gozzers (as I call them) got too close to me.

Heres a couple of pictures....

These were this afternoon.... they gozzers just came up to me and the adults followed.

We took the gozzers away last night so they could get under a heat lamp and the adults went mad...they were really vocal. First thing this morning when I let them out they started again and only went quiet when we let the babies out. They are in with the adults tonight with us checking them every 10 mins. If they start to huddle they are out of there and under the heat lamp again. I was not happy about this but my husband wants to do it.

That is a precious pic.. Is that the gander that's the closest? I hope it goes well for them all and you all too.

Yes the gander is the pure white one. All going okay so far. Goslings stayed with the adults overnight and all okay.
