I've been feeding my 3 week old goslings Scratch and Peck Organic Grower feed. It's formulated for chickens and ducks, when I contacted the company they said it has 61.6mg of niacin. I like it because it has mainly whole grains (and my chickens have always preferred this feed - I have too many chickens to use it as my primary feed but I always top off with this). It has 17% protein, calcium is 0.8-1.3%. Can I continue feeding them this until they start laying?

Is there a different feed you really like and would recommend? Thanks!

I'm not familiar with that brand, but if it should say somewhere on the bag what it's appropriate for. Mine I start on Purina flock raiser, than switch to a pellet all flock ration with a separate bowl of oyster shells. Geese eat a lot of grass and greens, so a ration is usually just a supplement unless yours have no range. Than I would bring them chopped grass daily to help.

I'd have to check, but I think unless you're raising meat birds you have to watch the level of proteins as it can cause angel wing in geese. 17% might be ok, but you should check on that. I am using Manna Pro Starter for Goslings.

The other thing to watch with adult food/scratch is whether or not they can handle it. They need some kind of grit to break it down. I started off with play sand, but with the Pro starter it's not required.
