I have a SB Sebastopol that hatched this afternoon with a foot problem. One of his feet is clinched up, toes rolled under the bottom of his foot, and all tight together. You can spread the foot out and all seems normal but it folds back up. Any advice or link as to how to treat this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Sean, easy fix.

Get thin cardboard (cereal box) and cut out a circle the size of the goslings foot. Quarters and half dollars are good to trace.

Place cardboard under the foot, flex the foot out flat (normal position)

Use vet wrap or sports tape to hold the foot in place against the cardboard. It will act like a corrective shoe for the toes. Usually only takes a couple of days to fix this soon after hatch.

Watch the gosling closely so it remains stable when moving around and doesn't get flipped on its back. Vet wrap adds traction to the bottom so they can move around easier.

Thanks Shellie!

Going out now to give him or her a new shoe. I have the vet wrap handy!

Sean
