I FINALLY got 8 geese from the hatchery I was trying to order through, but due to some issues they were having this year, I ended up getting a mixed batch instead of a single breed. I think we got 2 embdens,

a white chinese,

and the rest either africans or toulouse.

I'm very new to geese, so I would appreciate any thoughts on if I have these right or narrowing down the african/toulouse conundrum!

I imagine with the amount of orders and the sheer number of goslings/ducklings/chicks that hatcheries have to put out, sometimes people get some special things in mixed batches. All it takes is one employee to lose focus for a second. Im honestly surprised we dont get more surprises! Pretty sure I got a white layer in my batch of jumbo Pekins and that was a nice surprise. I also ordered fertile Pilgrim eggs and noticed all were marked with "P" EXCEPT one was marked with a "B" so I messaged the seller and she said that she must have accidentally included a Buff egg (which she wasn't planning on selling because she wanted to focus them on her own farm). I was super happy because that was the other breed that I hemmed and hawed versus Pilgrims. Sadly didnt develop but my point is, you never know!

An update now that they're getting bigger. We lost a few of them.

Pretty sure we have an embden:

Or 2 (but they seem to have a lot of grey coming in for an embden):

And then the 2 african, brown chinese, or toulouse:

Not sure anyone is still looking at this post but I would still love input on breeds and sex if anyone has any! 😁

I figured I'd post some final updated pictures now that they are really looking like adults now. The Sebastopol is a goose we got last year and the reason we got the goslings.
