Some of you may have seen that I have posted about this gosling already but I am very concerned about it still.
(I don’t want to cull or euthanize this gosling so please only respond if you have any suggestions on how I can help it heal
)
My gosling seems to have some pretty serious leg issues. It was hatched at around 1:00 yesterday, May 19th. (S)he seems very strong, energetic, and is eating and drinking very well! It just has some issues with its legs. One leg has something people are referring to as “curled toes” and I heard about a “shoe” I can put on it. But I don’t know what exactly to do... if someone could send me pictures or detailed instructions on how to fix it I would be so grateful!!!
But the biggest problem is with its other leg... it looks as though it has a severe slipped tendon or a deformity. I don’t know what exactly the problem is. All I know is that it is stuck in a bent position, it can’t move it straight, and the “knee” area looks a lot bigger or swollen than the other side. Because of this, the bird cannot stand up at all and falls on its face frequently. I can’t straighten out the leg at all.
It is trying to walk on its knee with this leg and walking on its ankle with the other leg and I don’t want it to go on any longer because I’m very scared more issues will arise from it staying this way for too long. This is my first time owning a bird and I am very worried about it. Thank you and have a blessed day!
