Gosling stopped eating

The babies name is Downy. They didn't have anything at the pet store but they told me how to find a feed store that had goose food and grit. I took him out for a walk (mostly carry) and he dug in the dirt as I turned it with a trowel to loosen it up. I'm not sure what he got but he pecked at the dirt and grass, and attracted a lot of curious neighbors. He had a half avocado today and I gave him an old pair of blue jeans to sleep on. I don't have a yard.
I got him a little toy and am about to give him some chopped tomatoes. I clean his area 3 times a day.
When I'm gone I play nature sounds with lots of birds in it lol.

Hi toddmo, well done on doing so much to help the little one. I´m sure you enjoyed taking it out.
But on looking at the pic, it has a look of duckling to me... My eyes aren´t great, nor are my glasses. and the photo is just a little bit fuzzy for my eyes, but it seems to have a very big back-end. It could just be the pic, of course, but I can´t make out the bill, or get the scale/size of the tub. Small or big?.... Can you post a close-up of it?

I got waterfowl starter feed and he loved it. I plan on keeping about 1/3rd of his diet veggie table scraps. He also liked his cooked brown rice yesterday and tomatoes and apples. From all the poop I would say he's eating; I'll just keep it coming.

Toddmo I am glad you put a picture because that is not a goose it is a duck. By the looks of it a pekin duck. Now they can eat worms and other thing that geese do not eat. But you did great on the waterfowl feed! So now you know you have a duck and not a goose. Easy mistake to make when you are new at this! You are doing a great job for you little duckling...
You watch how much it loves different foods of a variety they eat. They love bugs! Mine would fight over worms and one time one was running through the yard with a frog in it's mouth and the others trying to take it's prize away! That duck was beating that frog on the ground like crazy.
I have a small pond full of tad poles I's love to get rid of! No more ducks here an owl got my last duck!

Oh, lovely little chap! (I´m only guessing it´s a chap, I´m not into pekins) You´ll have fun with this one, I´m sure. And like Ruru said, they´re really into worms, and bugs and things. He/she´ll love going out with you...you´ll be able to tell later, because the drakes have a pretty little curly feather on their tail when they´re in full feather.
Here´s a pic from the duck threads of one on a harness......
Just keep an eye out form dogs....

lol just yesterday I was thinking "if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, ..."
I'm glad it can eat meat. There's been some tuna in the rice and he just ate that up too and I'm glad it won't hurt his tummy.
Thanks for pointing it out.
BTW, did you know the origin of that saying were people who thought they had geese?
Maybe they were sold ducks as geese and geese were more expensive haha.
"if it .... walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, your goose is a duck"
But Downy is precious to me. I'm glad he's eating good.

Well with the waterfowl feed (25 lbs of it), there's no worries of him going hungry any time soon. He just gobbled that up. And from the pretty much empty bowl and all the poop, I know he's eating quite a bit. And I'm probably hallucinating but he looks bigger; he's looking good. Thank you for all your help in my time of need!

No probs, have fun. Have you posted on the duck threads?

Not yet. I will soon though. I have to know what to do ahead of time when Downy can get out of the bathtub.
I let him out when I'm here; it's just when I'm gone that I'm worried about once he can jump the tub wall.
