Gosling that limps question

I was about to post for information on an injured foot for one of my 3 week old goslings - so here goes:

One of my goslings has what appears to be a broken toe ( middle toe ) it bends as if it has snapped, she was hobbling around and I have given it frequent swimming exercise to try and help to ease the pain and strengthen the foot, although the toe is swollen the gosling is walking almost as well as the others now - I am hopeful for a full recovery - it had spraddle leg when it hatched but I put two elasticated small hair bands together and put them on the legs... amazing it worked! Maybe the gosling is prone to a weakness in it's legs... hope I am doing the right thing for it...

I also have a goose baby with a bad foot/leg. As soon as I saw him limping, I brought him in the house. It's been about 5 days now and I 'think' he is better. I have been letting him swim for a couple of days now to excersise the leg. Altho his leg looks better, his little toes are kinda curled under. Not a lot, but noticeable. Do you think his toes will get better? He/she is a saddleback and I sure don't want to lose him/her. It is eating and drinking and POOPING really well. I have been keeping him quiet, but now I think I will excercise him on grass for a little while. Do you guys think that will help?

Well, my little one with the hurt foot / leg seems to be doing a lot better. We have taken him out and given him swims in the kiddy pool and after only two times, it was enough to convince him that he wasn't so terribly hurt at all -- and he could maybe try this walking thing again. Now he can sort of keep up with the big geese . . . and he misses them, so that is hopeful. I was feeling sad for him being all huddled up by himself. Now he is a grumpy sick patient and doesn't want to stay in his recovery area : ) I think in another couple days that he'll be able to hang out with the geese during the day . Whew. I was all worried and now I feel so much better! Now he has a new name -- Bumble -- since I don't know whether he's a boy or a girl, and I am sure he will be much tamer because of this episode. Instead of the "danger, danger!" queeping, we get "Oh, Hi, I missed you!" twitters instead, which is a big improvement.

So I'd definitely recommend swimming time in cool water . . . and all of the other advice I was given. Seems to be working great!
