Our little one didn’t make it, unfortunately. Not sure what happened. I couldn’t find the heating pad. I rewarmed the rice sock at 2:00 in the morning and she snuggled right up to it. Woke at 6 and went to check, and she had passed. I hope she didn’t get too cold. I even upped the heat to 72, which was as warm as I could make it and still be able to sleep. She was in the bathroom with the door closed and it was probably a little warmer in there. I just don’t know what else we could have done. I truly hope it wasn’t something we did wrong. We’re so sad about it. We were really looking forward to helping the little thing heal and get back out to the wild.

Pretty sure nothing you did wrong, as you tried to help it. Would have died earlier if left in the cemetary.

It probably hasn't eaten enough to stay alive since hatched since he/she was very handicapped. It looked like a Canada goose gosling.

Thank you Janet. The only comfort we take is at least it had some food and water last night, and was in a warm place (as opposed to sleeping outside last night with temps dipping to the low 30’s). I just hate having to tell my boys when they get up. They’re all older, but still not easy as they’re such animal lovers.

You did absolutely nothing wrong!! Unfortunately, things like these are mother nature and it happens. You did eveything you could and that’s what matters

Thanks for the kind words and all your advice last night. I keep kicking myself for not getting up at 4, or finding a way to make it warmer, but nothing I can do now. At least he wasn’t out in the freezing cold last night.
