I have 2 goslings left out of a hatch of 3. The first one died earlier today. They hatched 2 days ago but all had to be assisted out of the shell. I gave them 2 days overtime after pipping but felt I couldn't delay any further. They were all vocal after hatching and fluffed up nicely but have made no attempt to eat or drink on there own and aren't walking either. Any advice on what I should do please... what am I doing wrong??? Thanks in advance.

Have you shown them where the food and water is? When mine first go them in the brooder, I make it a point to dip their beaks in both food and water several times a day.

They might need a little boost. Try Poly-Vi-Sol vitamens, the kind that comes with a dropper for babies. Make sure it is the kind WITHOUT iron.

If they can not walk or hold themselves up you can mix 1/2 liquid vitamins to 1/2 warm water and draw up in a small syringe. Tent up the skin of the neck where it meets the back and inject some of this just under the skin. Might help get something in them if they can't swallow on there own.

Thanks for the advice but nothing worked I'm afraid, they both died during the night. I've never had a wipeout like that with chickens or ducks before. Think I'll give geese a miss from now on...too sad!

Sorry about your goslings. So sad when they don't make it.

Don't mean to change the subject, but noticed.
Umm...Cork Ireland? Like County Cork? Just curious.
