Since the coop is almost done (pics to follow in the Coop section) we went up to Dodge Grain in Salem, NH to pick up some chicks. We were hoping to get 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Aracunas & 2 Barred Rocks but they were out of Aracunas so we got 2 Welsummers instead.

Here they are in their temporary brooder on the sun porch (I have a much larger brooder in the basement where they'll spend the next couple of weeks) - the green stuff is Gro-Gel, once they figured out what it was, it was a mad frenzy of eating.

My son holding one of the chicks. They were so tired they would fall asleep in a couple of minutes when we held them.
