Got a Baby Monitor for the Coop!

I have a wireless video cam in the hen house and I LOVE

it! it is just before 6am here and as I sit in my warm house I can see my girls on the monitor, watch them wake up in awhile and know they are safe. I had a bad dream about something attacking them a couple of weeks ago and I was able to get up and look from the camera (infrared) to reassure myself that they were OK without going out in the cold.

Does the camera work on batteries on only on A/C? I'm new to chickens and I don't know if I'll be able to get electricity to my coop before the winter sets in.

This one i have needs to be plugged in. i have outdoor extension cords run inside the pen, so am plugging the camera in there. Then the little tv needs to be plugged in also. It's small and portable, so you can take it room to room if you want. i tried plugging it in next to my bed last night, but it got terrible reception. Probably just as well, i'm not sure my husband would have appreciated hearing chicken sounds all night.

My coop is not far from my house, just about 30 feet. And it cost $99, but i had a 10% off coupon and got free shipping, so that seemed reasonable to me, considering what security cameras cost.

I can't afford one like that but I sure want to get a baby monitor (audio only)soon!
