Is it normal for a new rooster and hens to be slightly aggressive with each other? The ones that are aggressive are the dominant hens. Is it normal for the rooster to be a little seperate from the hens?

The dominant hens are treating him as they would treat any stranger in the flock. The more mature the rooster the sooner he will become the boss.

So you reckon the longer he is here the better he will get. Whenever one of the dominant hens gets close to him he just runs away.

The problems is not only are the hens being aggressive towards him but whenever the dominant hens get close to him, he just up and runs away. It's like they are higher in the pecking order than he is?

How old are all the birds in question and were some of them (which ones?) just added to the flock?
