Got chickens in June, will they lay before December?

Early this June I purchased 6 chicks, RIRs, EEs, and Buff Orpingtons. Will they start laying eggs soon, or will they hold off until after the solstice?

Uhhh, around 25-27 weeks.

I have a pullet that hatched on June 4th, and she layed her 5th egg today. I hope this help's you to figure your's out.

We got ours in mid May. Only 2 if our 8 are laying. Hoping others start soon. Ours are a mix of Buff Brahma, Olive Eggers, Americana, Speckled Sussex and who knows what else.

I have some mixed breeds that hatched June 2nd and one of them started laying November 11th, one a couple days later, and 2 are still not laying. The two that aren’t laying are half Brahma and their moms were slow to lay as well... It depends a lot on the breed, as well as how much light you get.

They will start laying soon. My EEs started to lay eggs around 5-6 months old.

I have ten Black Australorps that are almost 27 weeks old. Only 2 of 10 are laying right now.

I would try to be patient as the days are short.

Perhaps share some pictures and the experts here can advise you how far along they are?
