We finally got our first egg! But it was definately small and we have 6 Australorps. They are between 4 & 6 months old. We thought we would get more each day (at least another one) but 2 days have gone by and nothing -- is this normal??? Also, is it possible that they would actually bury them under the hay we have on the ground. The one was found in the brooding nest. Also, do they get larger as the hens become more mature?? Any comments will be greatly appreciated!

Congrats on your first egg. Yes the eggs do get bigger.
Newly laying hens are very erratic in their egg laying at first. You may get eggs two days in a row, then none for a few days; things like that.
