Got Home from Work and have chicks hatchedUPDAtE PICs

Congrats Julie...My black cockeral is 8 months old that I hatched from your hatching eggs and he is starting to tower over my blue rooster who is a year and a half....

Thanks all. Tuff your blessed to have him. It will take me about five months now to get him to breeding state. I won't to work on my blacks. You gotta love Orps no matter the color. Their just awesome chickens.

Oh Julie, they are so cute! What kinds of bands do you put on them and why? I have seen bands, but can't remember what their for. Can you enlighten us on the bands plz?

On the young chicks I use colored electrical ties. I can snip and change as they grow and I am using them to know which ones I hatched from my own chickens or ones from another breeder. I like the numbered bands that expand for the older birds. I think I got mine from Cutler for my silkies.

Congrats!!! I can't wait to get my orp and silkie eggs from you in April - till the snow melts and the weather warms up I'm just going to have to enjoy everyone elses babies:jumpy

Hey Julie,
Those are some beautiful babies! That little cockerel appears to have a comb already!!!!

Where did these little guys come from?

Lori

Skeeter, thanks, they came from a breeder out of Fl. that I met Jan 07 at the Lake City Show.

Congratulations Julie!
That’s great that all 5 hatched and you are getting the male you needed. They are cuties!
