The new chicken run today and no I did not do it to my self it was either my 5 year old or his bus (van) driver. I was out with the chicks since there run is done and the auto doors are on when the driver came to pick my son up for school. My son was in with me and I told him not to lock me in he said ok and then his driver came over to see the chicks and my son came in again and then they left. I do not know which one shut the door and turned the thingy but one of them did I got up to leave and I was stuck. this was a little after 11am and no one comes to my place and my nearest neighber is 1/2 mile away no one will hear me. I tried waving at 4 vehicles and no one saw me and then finally the 5th one my neighbors son came back and let me out good thing I was wearing my red sweatshirt. This could have been a long wait my son was getting of the bus in town at the library where I was to meet him to help make may baskets and it could have been after 5 before anyone would have come looking for me. I never thought this would happen since the knob has to be turned to look me in geez. I was lucky to only be in there for a little over an hour but on the bright side I got more of the chicks named
Then I went to town for groceries and saw some webbed feet sticking up in the air I backed up to see what was dead and it was alive. I thought plover at first some sort of shore bird. Took it to vet in town. She couldn't find any breaks in the wings but it was holding one wing differently so I come home and call Kstate vet school. They coudl xray it but if it is broken they do not have a budget to deal with rehabing animals. I worked at UT Vet school and KNoxville Zoo so wasn't used to this. They referred me to Milford Lake Nature Center 2+ hrs away and they said if I brought it they would try to help it. So off I go. It is a really neat place and I want to go back and take my son to visit. The bird I found was a Franklins *Gull* it is a really neat looking bird and they are going to try to give it a chance and if it can't be realeased she knows a place that could possibly take it in Wichita so hopefully it will work out. I have done my good deed for the day. and I am worn out
duh I got plover on the brain it was a Franklins Gull
