Puffy Foot, no scab

My hen has a puffy foot. It’s warm to the touch, not hot, but warmer than her other foot, and she won’t stand on it. It started with a wobbly walk about 4-5 days ago.

Starting yesterday she started separating herself from the others. She’s walking very minimally on it. She still went inside the coop and on the roost at night last night. But I have her inside tonight.

No where near me has an antibiotic and no chicken vets around. I’m in NYS. I started soaking her in epsom salt tonight.

Any ideas what it could be? What I should do?

I bought Rooster Booster, Banixx spray, Iodine and Vetericyn Plus just in case I need it.

Should I keep her separated? No one is pecking at her yet. So I can bring her back out daily if needed.

She might have a strain from hopping off roost bars or something.

Watch her closely to make sure she's not getting picked on. If she's having trouble getting to food and water or if she's getting bullied, I'd separate her. Otherwise leave her with her flock. Hopefully she'll heal up fast. No need for antibiotics unless you suspect an infection.

What does the top of her foot look like? I agree, she has a couple of scabs on the bottom of the puffy foot. Bumblefoot may be part of the reason the foot if puffy.

Non-puffy foot has some Contact Dermatitis. I'd also watch that. This foot may need a little cleaning and triple antibiotic ointment. Keep the bird on dry bedding so it can heal.

I'd start with a non-surgical approach on the puffy foot.

Thank you so much for pointing those out! The one scab is super large and I don’t know how I missed it. It just looked dirty to me at first. These resources are super helpful
